Fading by Heather Kirchhoff
A very touching piece of work that uses strong description and character development to move to the inevitable end.
Quite reminiscent of having to describe one object in as much detail possible in a creative writing course. The author takes a tragic scene and slowly dissects it to bring you into it.
Despite the short length it feels like a much longer journey has been taken. This sensation by itself displays the skill of the author.
The drawn interplay with the two side characters cleverly play the emotions of the led character. With an interesting visualization of cat stealing and fading from the scene. The use of second person narrative draws the reader in with no place to hide with the subject matter on fully display.
Certainly an author to keep an eye on for the future. With this piece being an introduction to much talent.
